Measuring video ROI: how to report leads and sales, not views

Views are a vanity number. Wire attribution into the video itself with UTM links, promo codes and bot events, and you report revenue to the board instead of impressions.

A video gets two million views and the marketing lead still cannot say what it earned. That gap is the reason so much video spend gets cut first when budgets tighten. Views feel like results and prove nothing. The fix is to build measurement into the video before it ships, so the report you hand upstairs is in leads and sales.

Why views mislead

A view counts a moment of attention, often a second of it, sometimes muted, sometimes a bot. It tells you a video was served, not that it moved anyone. Optimise for views and you learn to make thumbnails that win the scroll and forget the sale. The board does not fund attention. It funds pipeline.

Attribution you can wire into the video

Every video we make can carry its own tracking, so the path from watch to purchase is visible:

  • UTM links on every destination, so your analytics attributes the session, the signup and the sale back to the exact cut that drove it.
  • Promo codes unique to a video or a variant, which turn an offline or in-store purchase into a line you can count.
  • Bot events, where a Telegram or messenger flow logs who arrived from which video and what they did next.

Tie those to your CRM and a view stops being the end of the story. It becomes the first step in a funnel you can follow to revenue.

What a real report looks like

Instead of “the campaign did 40M views,” you get to say which three cuts produced the cheapest leads, which promo code drove the most in-store spend, and what the blended cost per acquired customer was across the set. That is a sentence a CFO acts on. It also tells you what to make next, because the winners are now data, not opinion.

Why AI production makes this sharper

Attribution rewards volume of variants, and variants are exactly what AI production is cheap at. When one master becomes a hundred cuts, you can give each audience, offer and channel its own tracked version and read the results against each other. A traditional shoot gives you one creative to attribute, which is one data point. We can give you a hundred, each measured.
