One master, 100 cuts: how to test ad creative without a reshoot

A shoot gives you one creative to bet on. AI production turns a single master into a hundred cuts, so you test hooks, offers and formats and keep only what performs.

The expensive mistake in video advertising is betting the budget on one execution. You shoot a hero film, you run it, and if the hook is wrong you find out after the money is spent. A shoot forces that bet, because every extra version means another setup, another day, another invoice. AI production removes the reason to bet at all.

Why one creative is a trap

Nobody knows which hook wins before it runs. The best-tested instincts get surprised weekly. When your process only affords one creative, you are guessing once and living with it for a quarter. The winners you never made stay invisible, and the loser you did make eats the whole flight.

What “100 cuts from one master” means

Once we have built the master video, changing it is close to free. From a single production we can spin:

  • Hooks: the same ad with ten different opening three seconds, the part that decides the scroll.
  • Offers: one cut per promo, price point or seasonal angle.
  • Formats: 16:9, 9:16 and 1:1 for every placement, without recomposing by hand.
  • Audiences: a version skinned for each segment, language or region you serve.

None of that needs a reshoot, because there was no shoot to redo. We revise scenes, timing and text on the fly.

How to run it

Treat it like the experiment it is. Ship a spread of hooks against the same audience, let the platform find the two that pay, then pour budget into those and cut the rest. Next round, vary the offer on the winning hook. You are not hoping a single film works. You are running a funnel of small, cheap bets and compounding the ones that win.

This is where cheap variations stop being a nice-to-have. A/B testing was always the right idea; it was just too expensive when each variant meant another production. At €2–5K a master with near-free cuts, the testing budget finally fits.

The measurement half

Testing only pays if you can read the result, so give each cut its own tracked link or promo code and attribute the outcome to revenue, not views. The cut that produced the cheapest customer wins, and it wins with a number, not a hunch.
